Should a Wollongong business try to rank in Sydney too?
Google's Business Profile help says local results are mainly based on relevance, distance and popularity. A cafe on Crown Street will rarely show in the map results for someone searching in Parramatta. Ordinary web pages can rank for Sydney searches if they serve Sydney customers.

Two shortcuts to Sydney that backfire
A Sydney "office" you never work from
The pitch: rent a Sydney address, put it on a second profile, and appear in Sydney's map results. Google's guidelines rule out a rented address you don't trade from, and a co-working desk qualifies only with your own signage and staff there to meet customers. Profiles built that way get suspended; appeals ask for proof such as utility bills at that address. A staffed Sydney site can have its own profile.
Ticking every suburb from Helensburgh to Hornsby
A service area tells customers where you'll travel; listing every suburb up to the North Shore won't put a Fairy Meadow business in Sydney's map results. Google's guidelines also say a service area shouldn't extend beyond about two hours of driving time from your base. Name the areas you cover and earn reviews from customers in them.
