SEO Lane Cove · NSW 2066The village, the plaza and The CanopyGarden notes on local search

SEO for Lane Cove businesses, planted where locals look

Lane Cove is a leafy village north-west of the city with no train station, so many customers plan their visit with a search before they walk, drive or catch a bus. Google's suggestions show what they want: a cafe with a playground, parking at the plaza, a dentist on Burns Bay Road. Boltly gets Lane Cove businesses into those searches with a complete Google profile, clear service pages and a steady flow of reviews, on a month-to-month plan.

Seed packets

The Lane Cove searcher, in brief

Lane Cove is professional and established. At the 2021 Census, 64.2% of working residents were professionals or managers, against 40.4% across NSW, and the median age was 38. Computer system design, banking and finance support jobs employed residents at well above the state rate.

For a Lane Cove business, SEO means a Google Business Profile with the 2066 address and exact hours, a page for each service, directions that say whether you are on the plaza, in The Canopy or along Burns Bay Road, reviews that keep coming and a website that answers a careful customer's questions before booking.

The village centre

A village people describe by its plaza and two roads

People describe Lane Cove's village by three names: the plaza, Burns Bay Road and Longueville Road, where council's civic centre stands at number 48. Plaza searches are everyday ones (shops, parking, a butcher, the address), and dentists get searched by "burns bay road".

Next to it is The Canopy, a dining and parking precinct with a 500-space car park offering three hours' free parking and EV charging, and an "Eat Street" of restaurants; its ceiling won a 2022 Architizer A+Award for ceilings. If you trade in or near either spot, name it on your profile and pages, and say how far you are from the free car park.

Getting there

No train station, so searches decide where people go

Lane Cove has no railway station of its own. Artarmon, next door on the ABS boundaries, has a stop on the T1 North Shore Line, and Chatswood has both the T1 and the M1 metro. On Census day 2021, 22.1% of working residents drove to work and 2.9% took a bus, three times the NSW bus rate.

With no station crowd walking past, locals search and compare first, then drive, walk or catch the bus. Parking notes (including The Canopy's three free hours), accurate opening times and a pin on the right corner of Longueville Road turn that search into a visit.

Everyday searches

Playgrounds, breakfasts and family dentists

Cafe searches in Lane Cove add "with playground", "open now" and "breakfast", while dentist searches add "burns bay road", "orthodontist" or "family dentist". Restaurants get "dinner", "lunch", "on the water", "japanese" and "italian".

Answer those words directly. Mention a play area, highchairs or a kids' menu if you have them ("the canopy playground" is a search of its own), list the family services you offer, and keep Saturday and Sunday times exact.

Seasonal jobs

Garden jobs, done in season order

We do the five jobs in order, remotely from Melbourne. Dental and health take a longer growing season than a niche trade.

  1. Job 1

    Test the soil

An audit of your profile, site and the competitors ranking nearby.

  2. Job 2

    Plant

Category, hours, photos, services and a precise pin.

  3. Job 3

    Feed

A page for each service, written for Lane Cove customers.

  4. Job 4

    Water

A regular way to ask for reviews, and a reply to each one.

  5. Job 5

    Measure

Calls, direction requests and map positions every month.

A report full of rankings and not one booking

Owners who have paid for SEO before often describe it: the monthly PDF shows green arrows for twenty keywords, and the phone hasn't changed. So "Measure" starts with what pays, meaning calls from your Google profile, form enquiries, bookings and direction requests to the plaza. We set those up before the first report. Ask new customers how they found you, too, so the numbers can be checked against the counter. A ranking for a phrase nobody in Lane Cove types gets a note, nothing more.

About two in three residents (67.7%) speak only English at home, and Mandarin (6.3%) and Cantonese (3.2%) are the most common other languages.

Already signed a 12-month SEO contract that isn't working?

The trap owners post about on business forums is a long term, no results and a payout clause for the remaining months. Read the termination clause first, before you sign. Month to month, or a short first term with 30 days' notice, is enough for an agency confident in its work. If you're already locked in, ask in writing for an itemised list of the work done so far, with links, and keep the reply. Ours is the plan price above, monthly, with no exit fee.

Over the fence

Asked by Lane Cove businesses

How much does SEO cost for a Lane Cove business?

Starter is $500 a month for one Lane Cove location, Growth is $900 for adding Lane Cove North, Longueville or Greenwich, and Performance is $1,500 for dental, health, dining or several sites. There's no setup fee and every plan runs month to month. A cafe in The Canopy usually needs less than a dental practice competing across the neighbouring suburbs.

How long does it take to see results from local SEO?

Nobody can promise a timetable. Google's SEO starter guide says a change can show up in hours or take months. In Lane Cove, dental and health listings around the plaza are well established, so expect slower movement there than for a specialist with few local rivals.

Can a business in Lane Cove West or Lane Cove North rank for Lane Cove searches?

Often, because Google weighs distance from the searcher and these suburbs sit right beside the village. List your true suburb in your address, then use your pages to explain that you serve Lane Cove as well.

How do I get into the Google Maps top three?

Google's Business Profile help says local results are mainly based on relevance, distance and popularity. Choose the most precise category, complete every profile field, keep hours and photos current, earn reviews steadily and back it all up with a useful website. Distance you can't change, so the other two are where the work goes.

Should I show my home address on my Google Business Profile?

Not if customers don't visit you there. Google lets a mobile groomer or electrician driving to homes in Lane Cove and Longueville hide the address and set a service area instead. A PO box or virtual office address isn't allowed.

Who should own my Google profile, website and domain if I hire an agency?

You should. Your business should be the primary owner of its Google Business Profile, its Search Console and Analytics properties, its domain name and its website login, with the agency added as a manager or user it can be removed from. Ask for that in writing before you start. If an old agency or web designer holds your profile, Google lets you request ownership: the current owner is emailed and has three days to respond, and if they don't, you may be able to claim it.

How many Google reviews do I need?

There's no magic number. Look at the Lane Cove businesses in the top three for your main search and aim to match their count, then keep reviews coming every month. Recency matters to readers: in BrightLocal's 2026 Local Consumer Review Survey, 74% of consumers said they only care about reviews from the last three months.

Do you work with businesses in the suburbs around Lane Cove?

Yes, remotely. Boltly is based in Melbourne with no Sydney office. Before we start, we look at your category's searches in Lane Cove and the neighbouring suburbs, the listings ahead of you and where your customers come from.
