SEO for Currumbin businesses, between the creek, the headland and the sanctuary
Currumbin is a small suburb at the southern end of the Gold Coast, about 16 kilometres south of Surfers Paradise in a straight line, yet it holds Currumbin Wildlife Sanctuary, a surf-club beach and an RSL club. Searches here are specific: a restaurant with a view, bird feeding times at the sanctuary, the menu at the RSL. Boltly goes after searches like these with a sharp Google profile, a page for each service and steady reviews, on a month-to-month plan.

Seven kilometres south
Your customers may be on another clock
From 4 October 2026 to 4 April 2027, New South Wales runs an hour ahead of Queensland, and Tweed Heads is about 7 kilometres from Currumbin in a straight line. A booking made from the NSW side can arrive an hour early or late unless every confirmation names the time zone.
- Write times as "10am QLD time" on your site, confirmations and Google posts.
- Set your booking system to Brisbane time, not Sydney.
- Add a line to your profile description each October and April.
Why visitors to Currumbin pick from Google
Currumbin is small, with 3,278 residents, so most businesses here rely on people from the rest of the Gold Coast and on visitors. Those customers don't know the streets, so they choose from what Google shows them.
For a Currumbin business, SEO means a Google Business Profile that names Currumbin QLD 4223, a page for each service, directions from the beach, the creek or the sanctuary, and new reviews every month.

A wildlife sanctuary that brings the crowds
Currumbin Wildlife Sanctuary, at 28 Tomewin Street, grew from the lorikeet feeding display Alex Griffiths opened to the public in 1947, and the National Trust of Australia (Queensland) runs it today as a not-for-profit. The free wild lorikeet feeding at 8am and 4pm brings people to the suburb before most cafes open and again near closing time.
Visitors plan the day on their phones, checking tickets, opening hours and bird feeding times, and the sanctuary closes at 4pm with last entry at 3:30pm. If you run a cafe, a stay or a tour nearby, say how far you are from Tomewin Street in your profile and on your site, and think about hours that catch the early feeders and the 4pm crowd.

Coral SeaA suburb you find by its landmarks
Most directions in Currumbin hang off three fixed points a few hundred metres apart: the sanctuary on Tomewin Street, the RSL at 165 Duringan Street and the Currumbin Hill Conservation Park, which the Gold Coast Highway skirts on its way south.
Currumbin Waters and Currumbin Valley are separate suburbs, and Google mixes them in: a search for Currumbin restaurants brings up restaurants in the Valley, in Currumbin Waters and on Currumbin Creek Road. List the suburb your address is really in, then explain how close you are to the beach, the creek or the sanctuary. For a neighbouring example, see SEO in Burleigh Heads.

Sculptures on the sand, searchers on the path
SWELL Sculpture Festival put more than 80 large-scale contemporary sculptures along the coast from Currumbin Beach to Flat Rock at Tugun from 11 to 20 September 2026, and Google now suggests both the beach sculptures and the festival by name.
Walkers search on the path between Currumbin Beach and Flat Rock. If the festival returns, watch the organisers' site for dates, post your hours and what you offer walkers a few days out, add special hours if you stay open later, and check your map pin is exact, because people arrive on foot from the sand.

Houses and units in almost equal measure
Houses (45.8%) and flats or units (41.2%) split Currumbin's homes almost evenly, and owners outnumber renters more than two to one: 67.2% against 29.9%.
Most residents (77.9%) were born in Australia, followed by New Zealand, England, the USA, South Africa and Brazil, and 91.0% speak only English at home. Only 1.6% took public transport to work, so parking and driving directions matter. Professionals (28.1%), managers (15.9%) and tradespeople (12.6%) are the biggest occupation groups.

Currumbin questions, straight answers
How much does SEO cost for a Currumbin business?
A Currumbin plan with Boltly costs from $500 a month for one location, from $900 once you add neighbours such as Palm Beach and Tugun, and from $1,500 in crowded categories, with no lock-in contract.
How long before SEO brings in more bookings?
Google's SEO starter guide says some changes take effect within hours and others take several months. In Currumbin, fixing your hours and pin before the next school holidays is quick; ranking a page for visitor searches the whole southern coast competes for is the slow part.
Should my listing say Currumbin, Currumbin Waters or Palm Beach?
Use the suburb in your real address. The three are separate suburbs, and a mismatch can confuse customers and cause trouble with verification. Mention nearby landmarks such as the sanctuary or Currumbin Creek in your description instead.
A storm has closed us for a few weeks. What should our Google profile say?
Mark the profile temporarily closed rather than permanently closed, because permanently closed tells searchers you've gone for good. Put a reopening date on your website and update it if it moves. When you reopen, switch the profile back, set your regular hours and any special hours for the first weeks, and post that you're open again with a recent photo.
How can a business near the sanctuary reach its visitors?
Say how far you are from Tomewin Street, in minutes on foot or by car, in your profile description and on your website, and add photos that show where you are. Keep hours that fit a day out, because visitors often look for food and coffee straight after the 4pm lorikeet feed.
How do I respond to a bad Google review?
Reply calmly and briefly, thank them, deal with the specific problem and offer to sort it out offline. If a review breaks Google's policies you can report it, but never offer anything in return for changing it.
Customers from the NSW side keep turning up an hour early or late. What should we change?
Name the time zone everywhere a time appears. From the first Sunday in October to the first Sunday in April, New South Wales is on daylight saving and Queensland isn't, so 10am in Currumbin is 11am in Tweed Heads. Set your booking system to Brisbane time, write "QLD time" on confirmations, reminder texts and event posts. If many of your customers come from across the border, show both times for tours, classes and set sessions.
Booking and ticket sites show up above our own tour or stay. Is that a problem?
Only for the broad searches, and you rarely beat them there. Large booking sites tend to win searches like things to do on the southern Gold Coast, while a small operator can win its own name and specific searches near the sanctuary, the beach or the creek. Make those count: a Business Profile with a booking link, a website that shows the full price and the cancellation terms before checkout, and a plain reason to book direct, such as a better time slot or a free extra. Ads can still fill school-holiday gaps while that builds.
