SEO for Chatswood businesses, from Victoria Avenue to the interchange
Chatswood searches often carry a language with them. Google's suggestions for the suburb include Korean dentists and Japanese hair salons, and at the 2021 Census two in three Chatswood households used a language other than English at home. Boltly is a Melbourne-based business that works with Chatswood clients remotely on the Google profile, pages and reviews that put you in front of people already searching.
| The search carries | Example from Google's suggestions | Your listing should |
|---|---|---|
| A language | a Korean-speaking dentist, a Japanese hair salon | name the languages your staff speak, on the profile and the page |
| Hours | opening hours on market nights in the mall | show exact hours, market nights included |
| A landmark | parking at Chatswood Chase | name the centre, mall or venue you're beside |
| A trip | the walk from the station to the Chase | give walking directions from the station exit |

Chatswood, by the platform numbers
Chatswood is a dense, renting, multilingual suburb about 8 kilometres north of the Sydney GPO in a straight line, and Willoughby City Council's customer service centre is here, at 31 Victor Street. The 2021 Census counted 25,553 residents in about five square kilometres. Two thirds of homes were flats or apartments and half were rented, so a lot of your potential customers moved in recently and are still choosing a dentist, a physio and a regular lunch spot.
For a business here, SEO comes down to four jobs. Get the Google Business Profile exactly right, with Chatswood NSW 2067 in the address. Build one page per service, and add a page in Chinese, Korean or Japanese where your customers use it. Collect reviews steadily. And make the landmarks work for you: Victoria Avenue, the two big centres, The Concourse and the station are how people describe where they want to go.

In Chatswood, the language is part of the search
Mandarin was the most common language at home in Chatswood in 2021, at 23.3%, followed by Cantonese, Korean and Japanese. The Japanese figure looks small until you compare it: 3.0% of Chatswood residents against 0.2% across New South Wales, fifteen times the state rate. Korean is six times the state rate.
Type the suburb name and then "korean", and Google completes it with hair salon, hairdresser, spa and fried chicken; start a search for a dentist here and it offers a Korean-speaking one. A clinic or salon whose staff speak Korean or Japanese should say so on its Business Profile and its website, and give each language version its own page and address rather than switching languages on one URL, which is how Google's guide to multilingual sites asks for it. Have a fluent speaker write the page, not a translation tool.

The mall, the market and The Concourse
Victoria Avenue runs through the retail centre as a pedestrian mall, with Westfield Chatswood and Chatswood Chase as the two big shopping centres. Willoughby City Council runs the Chatswood Mall Market from 10am to 9pm, Thursday to Saturday. A few doors along, The Concourse at 409 Victoria Avenue holds the Pat Reilly Concert Hall, a theatre and Chatswood Library.
Google's suggestions ask about market opening hours, parking at both shopping centres and places to eat near The Concourse. If you trade on or near Victoria Avenue, put the nearest landmark in your profile description, keep your hours right on market nights, and if you open late after a show at The Concourse, say so, because "chatswood restaurants open late" is a search people make.

Two rail lines meet under the shops
Chatswood station is on the T1 North Shore Line of Sydney Trains, between Roseville and Artarmon, and on the M1 metro, which opened from Tallawong to Chatswood in May 2019 and has run on through the city to Sydenham since August 2024.
For search, the station is a landmark people use in their own words: Google's suggestions ask for the medical centre, the food court and the walk to the Chase. If you are a short walk from an exit, say which one and how long it takes. On the 2021 Census, 7.0% of working residents walked to work, almost three times the NSW rate, so the walking customer matters here more than in most suburbs.

A suburb of office workers as well as shoppers
Chatswood's residents lean heavily towards office work. At the 2021 Census, 39.6% of employed residents were professionals and 17.5% managers, and computer system design, banking and accounting all employed well above the NSW share. Google's suggestions show the same careful buyers searching by service: tax accountants, chartered accountants and a physiotherapist by the name of its building.
An accountant, IT firm or financial planner in Chatswood is chosen by people who compare two or three firms, so the service page has to show who does the work, what a first meeting covers and what it costs to start. A shop page can be short. A professional services page here can't. Our SEO consulting in Sydney page covers firms that want advice rather than a done-for-you plan.

Make sure Google knows which Chatswood you mean
Google suggests "chatswood postcode nz" and an Auckland postcode alongside the 2067 one, so some of the people typing the suburb's name are looking for a place in New Zealand. Others ask whether Chatswood is part of North Sydney. It isn't: on the ABS council boundaries Chatswood sits in the City of Willoughby, and North Sydney is its own suburb and council area further south.
Even this page's own keyword drifts: "seo chatswood" also brings up two street names in Seoul. The fix is consistency: write "Chatswood NSW 2067" in your page titles and footer, use the same address everywhere, and name Victoria Avenue or the street you are on. Working in North Sydney too? See SEO in North Sydney.

Next stops beyond the Chatswood boundary
Chatswood touches eight suburbs on the ABS 2021 boundaries. Most share its council, and two are a single train stop away. A neighbouring-suburb page only makes sense when you serve that suburb and have something useful to say about it.
Roseville
The next North Shore Line station north, split between Ku-ring-gai and Willoughby councils.
Artarmon
The next station towards the city, in the same council.
Lane Cove North
Shared between Lane Cove and Willoughby councils. For the village centre further south, see SEO in Lane Cove.
Willoughby and North Willoughby
Willoughby City Council suburbs on the 2068 postcode, so a business there should not borrow Chatswood's 2067 to look closer.
Chatswood West
A separate suburb that shares the 2067 postcode and spans Willoughby and Ryde councils, so a business there should still write Chatswood West in full.
Middle and Castle Cove
Residential Willoughby suburbs to the east; a business that visits homes there can list them as service areas rather than claim an address.

Chatswood questions, with straight answers
How can a Chatswood business rank on Google?
Start with your Google Business Profile: the right primary category, the full Chatswood NSW 2067 address, exact hours and the languages your staff speak. Then give each service its own page that answers what customers search for, name the landmark you are beside, such as Victoria Avenue or the station, and ask every customer for a review. Google's Business Profile help says local results are mainly based on relevance, distance and popularity, and those steps cover all three.
Is Chatswood part of North Sydney?
No. Chatswood is in the City of Willoughby. North Sydney is a separate suburb with its own council, closer to the harbour. For search, describe your location as Chatswood rather than borrowing a nearby suburb's name.
How long does SEO take to work in Chatswood?
No one can promise a date. Google's SEO starter guide says changes can be picked up within hours or can take months. A Chatswood dentist or Korean hair salon competes with many established listings near the centres, so it tends to be slower than a niche service with few local rivals. Progress shows up in the monthly report as calls, enquiries and map position.
We have a branch in Chatswood and others across Sydney. How should the Google profiles be set up?
One profile per real, staffed location, never two for the same branch; Google's guidelines say there should be one profile per business location, and duplicates split reviews and can lead to suspension. Keep the business name, primary category and main phone pattern the same across branches, and give each its own street address, hours and photos. On the website, each branch needs its own page with something only that branch can say: who works there, the languages spoken, parking at the centre, the station exit. A page that only swaps the suburb name helps nobody.
Another agency wants to sell us GEO or AI visibility on top of SEO. Do we need it?
Ask what they'll do that isn't SEO, and how they'll measure it. Google says no special optimisation, markup or extra file is needed to appear in its AI Overviews or AI Mode, and that its AI features rest on the same core ranking systems. Most of what is sold as GEO is ordinary good practice: clear pages, consistent business details everywhere and a reputation people can check. If the extra fee pays for that, you are paying twice; if it pays for a visibility score from a tool, remember those scores sample a few prompts and change from run to run.
We've paid an agency for months and can't tell what they did. What should we ask for?
A monthly change log with addresses: every page edited or published, every technical fix, every link earned with the page it sits on. Real work leaves evidence you can check yourself, such as new pages in your sitemap, changed dates on edited pages, and the queries and clicks in Search Console over three to six months. A report that is the same template each month with a few ranking screenshots is a warning sign. Whoever you hire should hand you that list every month.
Is Boltly a local SEO agency in Chatswood?
No. If a search for "SEO agency Chatswood" brought you here, Boltly is a Melbourne-based business with no office in Chatswood or anywhere else in Sydney. We work with Chatswood businesses by phone, email and video.
Do you offer one-off SEO services or a consultant for Chatswood firms?
Yes. Some Chatswood firms, often accountants and IT businesses with their own marketing staff, want an SEO consultant to review their site and plan the work rather than a monthly plan. Our Sydney SEO consulting page explains how that works, and a one-off SEO audit is the usual first step.
