SEO for businesses below the Mount Gravatt lookout

Mount Gravatt sits about 9 kilometres south-south-east of central Brisbane, and takes its name from the hill with the lookout on top. Locals search for the lookout cafe, events at the Showgrounds and the shops along Logan Road, while the 4122 postcode is shared with Upper Mount Gravatt and Mount Gravatt East. Boltly keeps your profile, pages and reviews pinned to the right Mount Gravatt, and the same senior specialist works on your account each month.

At a glance

Lookout visitors, show crowds and Logan Road locals

Mount Gravatt is small, just 2.9 square kilometres in the City of Brisbane's Holland Park Ward, but it's busy. The 2021 Census counted 3,733 residents with a median age of 36, and more than four in ten homes, 42.4%, were rented. Buses carried 7.1% of working residents to work, four times the Queensland share, and higher education employed 2.7% of them against 1.2% statewide, with Griffith University's Nathan campus next door.

For a Mount Gravatt business, that means a Google profile that says Mount Gravatt QLD 4122 in full, and reviews that mention what people come to you for.

Which Mount Gravatt?

One hill, three Gravatts, one postcode

The Mount Gravatt district along Logan Road is now three suburbs: Mount Gravatt, west of Logan Road, Mount Gravatt East, and Upper Mount Gravatt, south of Broadwater Road, which was gazetted as a place name in 1969. All three use 4122, and so do Mansfield and Wishart.

Google mixes them up: "mount gravatt 4122" brings up Upper Mount Gravatt and Mount Gravatt East, and "mt gravatt westfield" points to Westfield Garden City. Some suggestions are really business names, such as "mount gravatt mazda", and Griffith University's Mount Gravatt campus began as a teachers' college opened in 1967 on the western part of the hill reserve. Use Mount Gravatt QLD 4122 on your profile and in your footer, and if you serve the other Gravatts too, name each one.

Place of echidnas

From kaggur-mabul to the tram terminus

Queensland's place names register notes that the hill was said to have an Aboriginal name, kaggur-mabul, "place of echidna". In 1840 surveyor Robert Dixon named the hill after Lieutenant George Gravatt, who commanded the Moreton Bay penal colony from May to July 1839.

A provisional school opened on Logan Road in 1874. The showground was reserved in 1915 and held its first show in 1918. The tram line reached a new Logan Road shopping centre in 1951 and ran until 1969, and the high school opened in 1960. Landmarks like the school, the Showgrounds and the library at 8 Creek Road still make clear directions for customers.

Logan Road

Logan Road, the showground and the plaza

Logan Road is Mount Gravatt's spine, and Google's suggestions trace it: "mt gravatt logan road bunnings", "cafe mt gravatt logan road" and "dentist mt gravatt logan road". The Mount Gravatt Showgrounds sit on Logan Road and host the annual Mount Gravatt Show, an agricultural fair.

The Showgrounds are searched for "events this weekend", "markets" and "parking", "mt gravatt markets" is followed by "saturday", "sunday" and "opening hours", and "mt gravatt plaza" brings up its chemist, shops, doctors and post office. If you trade on Logan Road, give your street number and the nearest landmark, and if show days or market days change your hours, post them on your profile.

Getting around

No train, but the M1 metro runs close by

Mount Gravatt has no railway station. Brisbane Metro's M1 route, launched by council in 2025, runs between Eight Mile Plains and Roma Street. It stops at Griffith University station, which sits inside the Mount Gravatt boundary, and at Upper Mt Gravatt and Holland Park West next door.

The council says M1 runs at a 5-minute frequency from about 6am to 6pm on weekdays, every 10 to 15 minutes at other times, and around the clock from Friday evening to Sunday evening. People search "mt gravatt bus station parking" and "griffith university mt gravatt bus station", so if you're a short walk or ride from one of those stations, say so in your directions.

From the top

The lookout, and the suburbs you can see

Mount Gravatt Outlook Reserve covers 91 hectares. You drive in from Shire Road and up Mount Gravatt Outlook Drive to the summit, which has a car park, a cafe, a playground and toilets, or walk the 1.2 km Summit Track from Gertrude Petty Place in about 40 minutes. Google's suggestions show why people go: "lookout cafe", "sunset", "sunrise" and "at night".

Six suburbs ring the hill, as the compass shows, with Holland Park to the north and Nathan to the south-west. Cafes and venues near the top can answer those sunset searches in their profile. Further south, see SEO in Sunnybank.

Mount Gravatt questions

Questions about the Gravatts, the lookout and the metro

How much does SEO cost for a Mount Gravatt business?

A single Mount Gravatt location costs from $500 a month. Covering Upper Mount Gravatt, Mount Gravatt East or Holland Park as well is from $900, and competitive categories are from $1,500, all month to month. Our Australian SEO cost guide explains how agencies price the work.

We moved from Upper Mount Gravatt. Why do we have two listings?

Usually because a new profile was created instead of moving the old one, or Google built a listing from old directory data. Two listings split your reviews and confuse the map. Claim both, then ask Google Business Profile support to merge them or mark the old address as moved, giving them the exact map links and saying which one stays. Merges can't be undone. For copies you can't claim, use Suggest an edit and report the duplicate. Then update the address everywhere else, so it reads Mount Gravatt QLD 4122 on your site and in directories.

Can I put Mount Gravatt in my business name on Google?

Only if it's part of your real, registered trading name and on your sign. Adding a suburb or a service to the name field ("Plumber Mt Gravatt") breaks Google's guidelines and is a common reason profiles get suspended, especially when the name, address, phone and category are all changed in one sitting. Make sensitive edits one at a time, a few days apart. Let the address, your service pages and your reviews tell Google you're in Mount Gravatt; the name only has to match the sign.

An AI answer puts my business in the wrong Gravatt. How do I fix it?

You can't send a correction to the model, so fix what it reads. State your suburb, hours and services in plain text on your website, make your Google profile and directory listings agree with it, and use the feedback option on the AI answer itself. With three Gravatts sharing 4122, write the full suburb name every time and don't rely on the postcode alone. Check the same question again a month later; answers change as the sources change.

Can you drive up to Mount Gravatt Lookout?

Yes. Council says to enter Mount Gravatt Outlook Reserve from Shire Road and follow Mount Gravatt Outlook Drive to the summit, where there's a car park, a cafe, a playground and toilets; the lookout is open 6am to 11pm. On foot, the 1.2 km Summit Track from Gertrude Petty Place takes about 40 minutes.

Is there a bus station in Mount Gravatt?

Yes. Griffith University station, on the busway inside the suburb boundary, is an M1 metro stop, and Upper Mt Gravatt and Holland Park West stations are next door. Council runs M1 every 5 minutes on weekdays and 24 hours on weekends. There's no railway station in Mount Gravatt.

What's on at Mt Gravatt Showgrounds?

The Showgrounds on Logan Road host the annual Mount Gravatt Show, an agricultural fair, and people search them for events, markets and parking. The 2026 show, its 110th, has already been held along with the second Mt Gravatt Rodeo, and the show's website is counting down to 2027, so post your show-day hours once those dates are out.

Is Upper Mount Gravatt the same as Mount Gravatt?

No. Upper Mount Gravatt is a separate suburb to the south-east and south, gazetted as a place name in 1969, though it shares the 4122 postcode. Treat it as its own suburb in your service area and on your pages.

Pricing aside, these questions trace back to Google's autocomplete for Mount Gravatt searches on 4 October 2026.
