How SEO helps a Sunnybank business
Sunnybank is a suburb of family homes and busy food streets. The 2021 Census counted 8,892 residents with a median age of 35 and an average of 3 people per household, and 85.8% of homes were separate houses. Only 39.3% of residents were born in Australia; 16.9% were born in mainland China and 7.5% in Taiwan. Cafes and restaurants employ 5.9% of working residents, more than double the state share.
So the job is turning up when people search by street, centre or dish, in whichever language they type it.

Sunnybank is in Brisbane, whatever Google suggests
Google's suggestions ask the question outright: "is sunnybank in brisbane or logan". Sunnybank is in the City of Brisbane, in Runcorn Ward, and so are all seven suburbs that border it.
Sunnybank Hills, the next suburb south, shares the 4109 postcode, and Sunnybank Hills Shoppingtown isn't in Sunnybank at all. Search the bare name and you can land on Sunnybank in Murree, Pakistan, or Sunnybank Way in Pakenham, Victoria. Write "Sunnybank QLD 4109" on your profile and site, and say "Brisbane" in page titles so there's no doubt.

Sunny Brae, a railway and a town survey
The name goes back to Simon Gillespie, who grew fruit here from 1862. Queensland Places ties it to his farm, Sunnybrae, while the state's place names register links it to a Lancashire village. The railway station, first called Eight Mile Plains, took the name Sunnybank in 1885.
The town was surveyed in 1886 and a post office opened in 1892. The area was part of Yeerongpilly Shire until the shire went into the greater Brisbane Council in 1925. The Oasis swimming baths on Station Road, with three pools, a playground and aviaries, were a popular postwar outing until the site became a housing estate in 1990, and "the oasis gardens sunnybank" is still searched today. A line of this history makes an easy story for an About page.

Two centres people search by name
Sunnybank Plaza is on the corner of Mains Road and McCullough Street, with Hoyts cinemas and a Kmart. Market Square is the other centre people look up by name, for its restaurants, parking and directory.
If you trade in either, name the centre in your profile and on your pages, and say where to find you inside. Sunnybank station on the Beenleigh line and the Plaza bus stops on Zamia and McCullough Streets, served by routes 123, 126 and 155, are the other landmarks people use, and Banoon and Altandi stations sit inside the suburb boundary too.

Pages in your customers' languages, and reviews you're allowed to ask for
Card 1 · language
Customers who would rather read your page in Mandarin
On Census night 26.7% of Sunnybank residents spoke Mandarin at home, against 1.6% across Queensland, and 58.9% of households used a language other than English. If a real share of your customers search in Chinese, translate the pages that decide a visit: services, prices, hours and how to book. Have a fluent speaker check the result instead of publishing raw machine translation, and give each language its own URL. Use hreflang only where a true second-language version exists.
Say in your Google profile description which languages your staff speak, and welcome reviews in any language, because they speak to the next customer who reads that language.
Card 2 · reviews
A free dessert in exchange for a review
Google's Maps content policy doesn't let a business offer anything in return for a review: payment, discounts and free food all count, and Google says incentivised reviews will be removed from Maps. Sending the review link only to happy diners and posting reviews from staff or family are also against the rules.
What holds up is asking every customer the same way at the same moment, such as a QR code on the bill at a Mains Road restaurant or a text after a booking, with your direct review link. Reply to each review, in the language it was written in if someone on your team can.

Three stations and the suburbs that ring Sunnybank
Sunnybank covers 4.5 square kilometres and touches seven suburbs, all named on the board beside this section.
Three stations sit inside the suburb, Sunnybank, Banoon and Altandi, and Altandi also gets Gold Coast line trains, so tell customers which one is closest. Google's suggestions include the trip to the Brisbane CBD and the run from the station to Fortitude Valley. List the suburbs you cover in your Google service area, and write separate pages for the ones that bring the most work. A little further north, see SEO in Mount Gravatt.

I changed our late-night hours on Google. Why aren't they showing?
Edits to a profile can sit under review before they go live, and Google sometimes keeps an older version if it finds other sources that disagree. Check the profile for a notice that an edit is pending, make sure the hours on your website match, and avoid changing name, category and hours in the same sitting. For one-off nights, such as a food trail weekend, use special hours instead of changing the regular week. If an edit still hasn't appeared after a few days, contact Business Profile support from the profile itself.
